Whenever I attend funerals, an overwhelming feeling comes over me. I continually feel the need to evaluate my life. Funerals are continual reminders that we live and we die. Today was a little different though. It was actually the first funeral that I’ve done. As a pastor – it’s unbelievable seeing the relationships to family and fiends that have lost a loved one. Yet similarly, it’s a great time to share the gospel and truly see where our lives sit.
As I was speaking, I felt a great presence over me urging me to share a simple thought. That is Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is more desirable than great riches…”
That idea alone formed a thought that carried out the whole message. Death should never be just about sadness and mourning, yet it should also consist of rebirth and a new life. As we sit here today, we need to understand that we have only one life to live… How do you want to be remembered when you die?
